Manolo Blahnik revisited

As I mentioned, the Manolo Blahnik collection was also on display at the Lane Crawford opening I blogged about.

This designer needs no introduction, but here it comes anyway: Blahnik has been designing shoes for more than 40 years in London. The brand’s known for its quality and fashion forward thinking. Blahnik’s beautiful sketches has also been published in several magazines and books. One of their most famous style icons is Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and the city”.

For Lane Crawford, Manolo Blahnik’s re-released 10 pairs from his archive, titled “The Archive Collection”. The designer has also collaborated with several different brands to create special items – like suitcases, gloves and stationary.

My personal favourite: The Calder pump from 1993, which resembles the famous Piet Mondrian dress from Yves Saint Laurent (1954). The dress fused art and fashion like never seen before, putting the image from the Dutch painter on a dress. Also, I’ve always been a sucker for abstract, geometrical prints and bold colours. Yes please!

I wouldn’t mind getting the Piaggi either, named after famous Italian fashion editor Anna Piaggi (Vogue Italia, amongst others). It has the perfect heel height.

All photos by me.
