Wong Kar-Wai does make-up

Whilst doing some research I came across this short made by legendary HK director Wong Kar-Wai – for the make-up brand Shu Uemura. Apparently he did a collection for them, which was released in October last year. The short, entitled “Mask”, features actress Sandrine Pinna and is inspired by Bukowski’s poem “Burning in water, drowning in flames”.

I’m a big fan of Kar-Wai’s work, although I only discovered it recently – before moving to Hong Kong. His films, particularly “In the mood for love” and “2046” shows off the city in the best way (although it’s always raining), with beautiful colours, clothes, interior and a dreamy feel. Wong Kar-Wai will be releasing a new film this summer – “The Grandmasters”.

Valentine must-see: “In the mood for love”.
