A history hour with Anselm Kiefer

Top photo: From the series “Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom” by Anselm Kiefer. – No one has the same perception of history, Anselm Kiefer says, sitting in front of the press in White Cube‘s new Hong Kong space, dressed in white pants and a shirt. The German painter, however, is in town to show us … Continue reading

Art HK highlights

The world’s biggest art fair is taking place in Hong Kong this week. ARTHK2011 drew 63.000 people every day, and there is no reason to think this year’s fair will be less popular. 260 galleries from 38 countries are participating, with big players like White Cube, Ben Brown, Gagosian, Michael Hoppen Contemporary and ShanghART Gallery … Continue reading

Having a ball

Mediterranean China, is what I thought, wandering the streets and beaches of island Cheung Chau. Fishing boats as far as you can see, outdoors restaurants, fresh seafood, lobsters getting chopped in the middle of the street, bicycles going pling-pling. Just playing ball outside the temple. But no worries, Art HK is coming up in May, the world’s biggest art fair, and I will be covering it … Continue reading

As I mentioned last week, streetstyle photographer Tommy Ton was in Hong Kong to launch his design collaboration with Club Monaco. I’m saving the interview & photos with him for an article, but also did some shots of the stylish people there, which I’m sharing with you! Brogues & paisley is obviously the deal right … Continue reading

Nixon at Hong Kong Flower Show

I just had to check out the flower show this weekend. As I recently told you, one of the highlights of ArtWalk was the photos of hilarious outfits at Hong Kong Flower Show. So naturally I was intrigued to see this spectacle for myself. It was sunny and crowded in Victoria Park, with mostly Chinese … Continue reading

Review: ArtWalk 2012

It was the big ArtWalk this week, a charity event where 66 galleries keep open, with free drinks and food, and you can walk from gallery to gallery. What’s great about Hong Kong is that you CAN actually walk from gallery to gallery, they’re mostly in the same area, and there’s not a lot of … Continue reading
